A head and skin for a mechanical penguin puppet from Tim Burton's Batman Returns. After being abandoned by his parents at birth, Oswald Cobblepot ( Danny DeVito ) was found and raised by a group of penguins. Years later, Cobblepot and his gang lived with the penguins in the Arctic exhibit at the abandoned Gotham Zoo, from which Cobblepot sent out his rocket-wielding Penguin Commandos to destroy Gotham, before being thwarted by Batman ( Michael Keaton ).

To depict Cobblepot's many penguins, the production used real penguins, small performers in realistic costumes, puppets, static figures, animatronic penguins created by Stan Winston Studio, and early CGI by Boss Film Studios.

Believed to have been designed to be installed on a mechanical understructure, this penguin puppet head features a plastic face including brown eyes and a black beak with black and white faux fur applied around plastic rings for maintaining body shape. The beak is capable of being opened and closed. It exhibits discoloration, paint loss on the beak, and adhesive staining inside where the rings have come loose. Dimensions: 17.25" x 9" x 5" ( 43.75 cm x 23 cm x 12.75 cm ).
