A static Penguin Commando from Tim Burton's Batman Returns. Once his plan to kidnap the children of Gotham began to fold, the Penguin ( Danny DeVito ) released his rocket-wielding Penguin Commandos to destroy Gotham. Production used static penguin puppets to fill out the crowd of live birds, many of whom would not stay still for the duration of the sequence.

Batman Returns broke several box-office records and was nominated for a total of 11 awards, including Academy Award nominations for Best Visual Effects and Best Makeup, the latter being for the work of Ve Neill, Ronnie Specter, and Stan Winston.

This rubber penguin was molded around metal rods with a painted resin beak that opens, and the helmet and harness that are part of the penguin's sculpt are hand-painted. It is affixed via metallic loops on the back with a painted resin rocket with vinyl stripes. This penguin exhibits flaking paint throughout. Dimensions: 14" x 12" x 19" ( 35.75 cm x 30.5 cm x 48.25 cm ).
