STAR TREK PHOTO GALLERY #42 (BLACK & WHITE STILLS)

Updated: June 06, 2026

In the last few years I've really been getting into sci-fi so I knew I would have to check Star Trek out. I know that a lot of people advise to skip the original series but I like to at least get an understanding of the lore and the history of a thing to get a more well rounded view. Anyway, I can tell you I understand why people say to skip it. It has its pros but omg.

Thoughts on story and writing: it doesn't really make much sense to me. In a world where a group of people are out to explore the unknown of space, I don't really understand why they would not be equipped for what could happen to them. What's worse is they don't learn from their mistakes. Why does the captain always put himself in life or death situations when all he's good at is glamour shots. The people who die due to his dumb decisions are treated like it's not a big deal.

Thoughts on the set: I actually love seeing this set even though it's really old because I like to see how things are done without today's technology. I can only image what it must have been like to make all those paper rocks. I like the different backgrounds they used and how they tried to immerse us into a universe without much at their disposal. Apparently they filmed and completed episodes within a week. I like the costumes. I love Uhura, and so cool to know she was the first African-American woman to play a lead role on television.

Overall I'm bored. I don't think I can finish it. I appreciate it for what it is but there's too much that's bothering me. So I decided to watch the first episode of TNG and it seems like the same shit over again ( Although I really liked Data, he made the most sense to me ). Why are these people not military? Why are they exploring the universe as if they aren't likely to die? Why do they keep putting themselves in danger without the skills to deal with it?
