Wah Chang-created "Salt Vampire" Creature Hand from Episode, "The Man Trap" of Star Trek: The Original Series ( Paramount TV, 1966-69 ). Vintage original "Salt Vampire" hand glove constructed of foam rubber and faux fur. Designed and built by Wah Chang, the glove is expertly painted in grays, greens and purples. After "Bones" ( DeForest Kelley ) is reunited with his old love, Nancy Crater ( Jeanne Bal ), the crew of the Enterprise discovers her dark secret. Each of the three thick fingers feature three sucker-like feeding organs used to extract salt from its prey. The frightening episode was written by George Clayton Johnson, and considered one of the scarier episodes of the series. The glove measures 8" x 4" x 3". Exhibiting age, petrified and fused latex and production use. Featured on page 34 of the book The Art of Star Trek by Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens ( Simon & Schuster, 1995 ).
