This is the original Forbidden Planet Robby Space Patrol produced by Nomura of Japan in the late 50's. All parts are original and in excellent condition. There are some touch-ups to the gold paint on Robby's back and on a portion of one side seam. I'm not certain if they were done in the factory but they tend to show up much less in real life than in the actual photos.

The reflector dished have what appear to be mostly surface cracks and original battery cover has had its two hinge tabs replaced. The rest of the toy is approximately C8.5 to C9.5 and it functions properly; bump-and-go action with lit dome and reflector lights that flash on and off at different intervals, depending on the direction of the vehicle. The inner portion of the battery box is of plated metal and is free of rust or corrosion. ( The pinkish color you see in the photo are due to reflection from the inner sides of the battery case ). The manufacturer's logo can be found at the rear of the car ( see photo ). While even the repro Space Patrol turns up less and less often, the original version is very rarely offered for sale.

If you have ever seen one of these in the flesh, you'll agree that it's truly a spectacular toy as well as an importantant icon of Sci-Fi movie memorabilia.
