Richard Basehart from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea fame from 1964-1968 sci-fi series, died at age 70 in 1984 following a series of strokes. The Zanesville, Ohio, native began his career on Broadway before making more than 50 films, including He Walked by Night, Roseanna McCoy, Moby Dick and La Strada. Also a prolific narrator of documentaries, Basehart co-founded Actors and Others for Animals with his wife Diana Lotery in 1971.
