Background gorilla costume and display from Planet of the Apes. (TCF, 1968) This costume and display features a complete original background costume from Planet of the Apes, with background vest, tunic, pants, and gauntlet gloves. The boots and gun are not original, but exact replicas produced to complete the display. Most notably, the mask is a John Chambers original screen-used background mask, very rare to have survived and highly sought by knowledgeable POA collectors.

The prosthetics-grade eyes are set back in the mask, and the entire piece is designed to look like a typical background gorilla - essentially, an actor in a quickly-assembled costume for use in some of the long shots in the film. Many of the background gorillas are also visible in the foreground in certain sequences.

A great costume, true to its "background" origins, with an original screen-used.
