SQUIRT GUNS #01 (REPLICAS) |
Updated: June 23, 2015
Here is a real treat for the fan of Irwin Allen's "Lost in
Space", featuring the adventures of the space family
Robinson's trek across the stars. In the early 1960's, when
the show first aired, one of the vendors to produce a 6" x 3
1/2" water pistol based on the pistol used by John Robinson
(Guy Williams) during the show's first season. Some have
questioned whether the original was actually a licensed
product, but it did bear the distinctive "Lost in Space" logo
on it's left side. It is to this day a highly sought
collectible for "Lost in Space" collectors.
This is unfortunately not one of those!
However, this reissue from the early 1990's is from the same
mold. I found these one day while shopping in an overstock
store in the mid 1990's, and I recognized the distinctive
"Lost in Space" blaster look. Distributed by St. Mark's
Specialty L.L.C., this reissue can be distinguished from the
original in two ways: One - the originals are (to my
knowledge) red or green plastic, whereas this one is molded in
blue; Second - In order to keep with copyright laws, the word
"Lost" was obliterated from the mold, leaving the words "in
Space" left intact in their logo lettering. In all other
respects, it is exactly the same as the original.
Value: $20. (Replica's)
