Pictured here is a collection of storyboards from the third season Lost in Space episode "Deadliest of the Species." Storyboards are created for movies and television by the production staff to visualize key scenes yet to be filmed. They also aid in creating new costumes, props and set decorations. Notice the difference in the design of capsule Alpha 784. The idea of creating a new large prop as pictured was scrapped, probably for budgetary reasons, in favor of using existing missile props from "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea."

Very few of these storyboards have survived in the forty years since these episodes were filmed, making these a rare collector's item and a fascinating glimpse into the world behind the scenes on Lost in Space.
