Paul Henning first wrote June Lockhart, as Doctor Craig, into the Petticoat Junction script as a temporary replacement for the ill Bea Benaderet. When Ms Benaderet became too sick to continue, Henning signed June Lockhart as a regular but held out her shows till after the death of Miss Benaderet which was imminent.
