City Beneath The Sea ( TV Movie, 1969) - Hand-painted Pacifica Matte Painting:

A hand-painted matte painting of Pacifica from Irwin Allen's City Beneath the Sea. In this first Allen-directed television pilot with this title, General Kevin Matthews ( Glenn Corbett ) saw Pacifica's underwater skyline from his flying submersible.

This large matte painting features small holes throughout for installing lights that illuminated the submerged city. It is rendered in mixed media on wood-backed Masonite taped with cut wire. It exhibits torn backing, paint staining, and splintering from production use and age. Dimensions: 183 cm x 213.5 cm x 4 cm ( 72" x 84" x 1.5" ).

Value: $1,500.
