The Poseidon Adventure was nominated for eight 1972 Academy
Awards, including Best Supporting Actress for SHELLEY WINTERS,
who had won Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress in
1959 (The Diary of Anne Frank) and 1965 (A Patch of Blue).
STELLA STEVENS was a Golden Globe winner for Best New Female
Star in 1958. CAROL LYNLEY was nominated for the same award in 1959. PAMELA SUE MARTIN is
best known as TV's Nancy Drew (1977-1979). The Poseidon
Adventure, directed by RONALD NEAME, also starred Oscar
winners Gene Hackman, Ernest Borgnine, Red Buttons and Jack
Albertson and Tony winner and Oscar nominee Roddy McDowall as
survivors struggling to escape a capsized ship on a New York
to Athens New Year's Eve cruise.
