A pyro test Viper model miniature from the production of Battlestar Galactica. Vipers were the human Colonials' signature starfighters in the protracted conflict against the genocidal mechanical Cylons.

This Viper miniature was created by MCA-57, a special effects group consisting largely of Star Wars crew members who would later form Industrial Light & Magic ( ILM ), for use in testing pyrotechnic effects for the series. Following the tests, the pieces were kept and reassembled.

This unfinished, hollow cast foam Viper model is painted gray with white flecks and mounted to a black metal display. It exhibits fragility and adhesive residue from where it was previously destroyed during pyro tests and reassembled, as well as paint flaking and some small holes from pieces that weren't recovered.
