SPACE GRAPHIC ART (ED DOBBINS)
NASA CEV Concept:
One on the concepts Nasa has been studying to replace the shuttle. Would be used primarily used to ferry crew and supplies to the space station and used as a transfer vehicle to spacecraft to either the Moon or Mars.
I used the spacecraft design from the movie Mission to Mars as a baseline and "re-engineered" to a more realistic design. I designed it to be launched in sections and assembled in orbit - approximately 10-12 launches.
A local historic movie theater here in Baltimore MD, torn down Feb. 2004. After it was demolished, I wanted to try and remember how the theater was designed before the memory of it faded over time. So based off of old pictures and documents I created the 3D version of the theater. The last movie I saw in the theater was Return of the Jedi, Feb 18 1984, 2pm show. I remember it so well because the theater had no heat (wind chill of 15 degrees outside), I saw it with my best friend in high school, and it was my birthday. I figured I would also 'show' a few movies on the screen one last time.
